Come let us show you the place we wish you could have celebrated
‘The Roberts Wedding’, 5 years ago!
We were so glad to celebrate our wedding with many of you in DC. Now, we hope to welcome you to Rebeca’s hometown and the location of our originally planned wedding for a weekend of low-key hangouts and hometown tours.
Why?!
The Pitch
Our nuptuals were abruptly forced to be re-planned in May of 2020 due to a virus of which you may have heard. We were sad that many of our family and friends were unable to travel with us to Rebeca’s beloved home country, local city, and small town. Rather than continuing to rue the missed opportunity, we plan to reconvene a gathering of friends in Mexico for our 5-year anniversary. We hope to spend a weekend of low-key time with you, and provide an assortment of activity ideas for you to extend your stay longer– either before or after the holiday weekend. The weekend is meant to be a way to gently encourage you to spend your vacation time with us. It is not our wedding and we aren’t asking you to make wedding-level effort to come, but we are going and we thought it would be so fun to share the time with friends and family we love!
Where
Cholula, Mexico. In the state of Puebla, and 20 minutes from the city of Puebla. Within a 2 hour radius are Mexico City, beaches, and three 17,000+ foot mountains.
When
May 24-26, 2025. We will have activities spread across the long (Memorial Day) weekend. Drop in as your travel plans allow.
Who
You! Maybe you watched our wedding online instead of coming to Mexico. Maybe you’re a new friend. We’d love for you to join us for this weekend!

Frequently Asked
Questions
How long should I stay?
Come for the weekend with us, but stop in to other sights in Mexico on your way in or out. We recommend staying at least a week if you can!
Do I need to speak Spanish?
In the airports and frequented tourist locations many people will speak English enough to help you. When outside of these, the Google Translate app will help you hurdle language barriers with only minimal delay.
Will my phone have service?
Many US carriers have roaming agreements into Mexico, so you may have service for free. We highly recommend purchasing roaming or a data-only eSIM. (available as low as $6 for 1GB, valid for 7 days here)
Can I drink tap water?
NO! Most anywhere you stay will provide complimentary bottled water, and it is easily purchased from most any store. You will be okay to brushing your teeth and eating ice in your drinks, though. Read this article if you want more nuance.
Should I rent a car or use public transport?
Public transportation is much better than in the US. Taxis are cheap, and busses run frequently. If you’re comfortable driving internationally and withdraw Pesos for tolls, renting a car will give you more flexibility.
What if I’m not street smart?
Don’t carry your valuables in back pockets or loose purses. Travel with others. Use public transportation.

Mexican culture is dripping off everything in Puebla. It is a beautiful city with indigenous, colonial, and modern histories. There is something for everyone.

Cholula is one of our favorites
The town is small, the sights are everywhere, the people are lovely. Puebla is close too if you want the appeal of a bigger city!

Outstanding outdoor adventures
I tried my hand at mountaineering– climbed the 3rd highest peak in North America. It was a daunting task! Don’t go without adequate preparation…

Should have stayed longer
My boss forced me to only take 3 days. So much remorse I didn’t make a longer trip.
